Our vision
To create a music shop that does not intimidate, a music shop that sends out a message to all people, we want you to come in, we want you to play and we want you to enjoy yourselves. Far too many times we have come across elitism in music circles that only causes resentment, a lack of confidence, alienation and frustration. We want to work with children and adults, schools and colleges, essentially to encourage anyone, anywhere to enjoy all music of all styles.
We have a passion for music and our aim is not to help create virtuoso musicians, but to help bring pleasure and fun to everyone through music and to wake everyday inspired - driven to do something we enjoy completely and make a living from it.
Our mission is to…
" … create a business that enables us to use our skills and knowledge of music & people development and which makes us want to get up every day and give 100%.
" … provide an income to support ourselves and our children.
" … be recognised as the leader in sales and support of our range of musical instruments in the locality by the end of our first year of trading.
Our company values are…
" … to have respect for customers and stakeholders involved in the business coupled with a non-judgemental approach to musical ability and knowledge.
" … that anyone who works in our shop listens seriously to the opinions of others, considers their feelings and attempts to understand their thoughts in all their dealings.
" … to embrace the joy of music and strive to have fun along the way.
Our philosophy is…
…anyone can play any instrument! We love music; listening to it, watching it being played live or playing instruments ourselves. We have met many other people who feel the same and are often bracketed as "frustrated musicians" who have a 'proper' day job, but attempt to play some instrument in their spare time. Many times we have come across people who say, "I would love to be able to play an instrument, but I am no good at music" - anyone can play any instrument!
Romeo Stodart of the Magic Numbers, said in an interview, 'I get intimidated in guitar shops. You walk in and feel like you should have to know everything'
And he's a real musician - think how it must feel for the rest of us! Well we do everything we can to get away from that feeling. We know next to nothing, in the great scheme of things (now our daughters - they know everything) but what we do know, we are happy to share and we always like trying to find out new things for our customers - so set us the challenge.
